오늘밤 불꽃놀이 보러 가시나요? 제가 주로 가던 곳은 Mountain View 에 있는 Century Cinema 16 극장 근처입니다. 9시반쯤 시작되니 9시쯤 끝나는 영화를 예약하고 가서 극장주차장에 파킹도 하고 (도로쪽 가까운 쪽에), 영화보고 나와서 Shoreline Blvd 따라서 북쪽으로 좀 가면 (Chalston Rd) 불꽃놀이가 잘 보이는 곳이 있습니다.

유튜브에 불꽃놀이 찍는 팁들이 많이 나와 있는데 아래 비디오 보고 짧게 정리해 봤습니다. 제일 중요한것은 삼각대가 꼭 필요하다는것, 수동초점으로 할것, 그리고 Exposure Mode 는 B(Bulb) 를 사용해야 한다는 겁니다 (Manual 아님). 이유는 불꽃이 올라가서 터질때까지 찍어야 하기 때문에 (또는 상황에 맞게 원하는 시간동안 노출해야 하기 때문에) 노출시간을 미리 정할 수 없습니다. 필요할때 셔터를 누르고 원하는 장면을 다 잡을때까지 누르고 있습니다.

= Preparation

- DISABLE low exposure noise reduction (for faster shots)

- TURN OFF auto focus and use manual focus (slightly before infinity)

- Tripod is a must because of long exposure

- Cable release is a good to have

- Use wide angle (24-40mm) unless there're obstacles blocking the view. Carry a telephoto lens as well just in case.

- Bring a chair and a flashlight

- Bring water!!!

= On the spot

- Find a good spot and own it.

- Use BULB exposure mode

    f/8-f/11

    Low ISO because fireworks are bright (e.g., 100-200)

    Press shutter and hold until explodes happen.

- Get shots of people around you too.

- Take videos too
